In 2015, the United Nations General Assembly declared 11 February as the International Day of Women and Girls in Science. The gender gap in science remains significant : current data reveals that women make up just 33.3 % of researchers globally, and only 35% of STEM related degree holders are female.

This year’s celebration, which marks the 10th anniversary of this International Day, focuses on Unpacking STEM Careers: Her Voice in Science, with a hybrid event on 11 February 2025 organized at UNESCO Headquarters.

To mark the International Day of Women and Girls in Science, Graduated Women International released a video infographic celebrating women in STEM. The video highlights key data, acknowledges the contributions of current and past GWI members, and recognizes the achievements of its National Federations and Associations (NFA) in STEM fields.
