International Standard ISO Reference number 53800 2024 provides guidelines for organizations to promote and implement gender equality and women’s empowerment.

This is the first time in the world that an ISO standard has been dedicated to gender equality. Initiated by France in 2019, adopted by 62 countries and passed unanimously, it provides public and private organizations with recommendations and a methodology for taking gender issues into account in their activities and internal operations.

These guidelines, which contribute to the empowerment of women, constitute a roadmap that all organizations can seize upon. In the service of feminist diplomacy, ISO 53800 is an additional tool for advancing real equality between women and men, it focuses on overcoming the inequality arising from gender-specific roles and is applicable to all organizations, regardless of their size, location, or field of activity.
